Carnoy
(1999) noted that there were at least six major effects of
globalization in education as listed below:
- Education as a marketable commodity and the commodification of knowledge – universities (education) become an export industry. Also export language and culture.
- The dominance of the English language.
- Internationalization and diversity.
- Increasing decentralization in education.
- Curriculum reform and notion of ‘valuable’ knowledge.
- The growth of international testing.
